The ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel appeared in public this Friday with a cast on his right arm.

Díaz-Canel attended the Casa de las Américas to participate in an event where the Haydee Santamaría Medal was awarded to Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka, Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986.

The president shared a photo on his X account where he is seen -almost semi-hidden- next to the honoree and behind his wife Lis Cuesta.

The image of the plaster did not go unnoticed by internet users, who reacted and mocked the situation.

"But who gave you that bruise and broke your right wing?" "Did you break a wing?" and "Oh, Canelito, Canelito, what happened to your little arm? The same as what happened to your little bottom? Did Raulito do that to you?" were some of the comments.

Subsequently, another photograph was circulated that clearly shows the immobilized arm.

On the right wrist is precisely where the ruler wears his $13,000 Rolex GMT Master II, as seen on August 12, when he went to Havana airport to welcome the delegation that participated in the Paris Olympics.

The incident was reported by the regime's communication department, which published images of Díaz-Canel on the runway of the airport terminal hugging Mijaín López, without acknowledging the contrast between the luxury displayed by the leader and the misery in which the majority of Cubans survive.
