A representative contingent of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) of Cuba attended a military parade in Nicaragua last week, one of the allied countries of the Cuban government in the region.
The military parade, named "People-Army," was led by the dictator Daniel Ortega Saavedra; and the Nicaraguan Vice President and Ortega's wife, Rosario Murillo Zambrana, and commemorated the 45th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Nicaraguan Army.
Alongside the Cuban participants were representatives from the armed forces of the People's Republic of China, Honduras, Mexico, the Russian Federation, and Venezuela, as well as various regiments from Nicaragua's ground, naval, and air military units.
Specifically, the participating countries in the event are those that are part of presidential decree 14/2023, through which President Daniel Ortega authorized the entry into Nicaragua of troops, ships, and aircraft from the armed forces of Russia, Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, the United States, and several Central American countries, starting January 1, 2024.
That admission, of a number categorized by types, of foreign military personnel, was established by the government of that country for the purposes of mutual benefit exchange and humanitarian assistance in case of emergency situations, according to official information.
Ortega, a staunch ally of the Cuban dictatorship, authorized the rotational entry into Nicaraguan territory of 50 members of the FAR to "conduct exchanges and humanitarian work with members of the Nicaraguan Army."
At the same time, it also allowed the rotational entry into Cuba of 50 members of the Nicaraguan Army to fulfill the same conditions established in the exchange.
Cuba and Nicaragua maintain a state of diplomatic relations that has evolved to the highest level. These countries, along with Russia and Venezuela, represent a "threat to security and stability in the western hemisphere," claims the Peruvian platform Expediente Público.
