Although Chocolate MC claims that the new representatives of the urban genre in Cuba are "his children," "Chocolaticos" who owe their music careers to him, Wampi does not agree with his perspective.
The young reggaeton artist stated in an interview for Chunguito Podcast that he does not owe his career to him: "Because, first, he hasn't written a single song of the ones I've released, let's start from there. Second, he hasn't made the music for any of the other songs I've recorded, he hasn't had the strategies I've had, he hasn't done anything."
"I respect him a lot despite his issues, his problems, I am empathetic on that part because I know he is a person who has suffered a lot, but honestly, I don't owe him anything, nor do I feel that the new generation owes him anything, because the stuff being made nowadays is not like what was made many years ago," Wampi added.
“My music has nothing to do with his, no offense,” he says, but despite this opinion, Wampi acknowledges the role Chocolate has played within the reparto genre: “I cannot deny that he was the repartero who made the reparto known throughout all of Cuba and parts of the world.”
These days, the controversies within the genre have been heated. Chocolate MC and Harryson have thrown a few jabs at each other on social media, and El Carli also took a strong shot at Wow Popy.
