59-year-old Cuban cancer survivor, proud of her adaptation in the U.S.: "I am not afraid of work"

"I'm so proud of myself, I'm so proud to know that I'm not afraid of work, that I can do a difficult job just as well as an easy one as long as it's worthy."

The Cuban Mirtha Moreno Ávila, 59 years old and a cancer survivor, has touched many on TikTok by sharing a video where she proudly showcases her work in the United States. Although her working life has changed drastically since her previous position in a hospital in Cuba, where she wore a white coat and high heels, Mirtha admits to being proud of what she does and has achieved today.

"Who would have told me that one day I would do this job?" says @mirthamorenoavila in the video. Despite the differences between her past and present, she acknowledges that she is not afraid of hard work and feels proud to have learned to adapt.

"The work is hard, more than what can be seen in the images, but I feel proud of myself. I am not afraid of work; I can do both hard and easy jobs, as long as they are worthy," she comments with conviction.

Her words are resonating among many users, who have left her messages of admiration and support. "Blessings, everything is about mindset, you can handle this and much more," wrote one follower. Another person expressed: "It is a pride for our Cuban community." A coworker shared her surprise at how organized Mirtha has her workplace: "Wow, what a well-organized backroom, I also work for 7Up, but in Miami."

Mirtha responded with humility, explaining that she herself takes care of keeping everything in order. When asked about her job, she stated that the company offers good benefits and added that if she were younger, she would work there until her retirement.

Her daughter, the well-known TikToker Yanet Atlanta, also shared the video on her profile, expressing her pride in her mother's example of strength and effort. "At my job, there are two women, my mom and me," she wrote, highlighting that her mother, in addition to having overcome cancer, continues to be a strong and hardworking woman. "Here, we come to work and to improve ourselves," she added in her post, reflecting the values that Mirtha has instilled in her.

For many, this Cuban represents the dignity of effort, regardless of how different the circumstances may be. "Many blessings, you are a good example," acknowledged a user.
