The Cuban @claydis shared a video on TikTok in which she confessed her "beginner's mistake" when trying a Babybel cheese for the first time in the United States. Amid laughter, she recounted how, not really knowing what the product was about, she bit into the red wax layer that covers it, thinking that it was part of the cheese. "Please tell me I'm not the only one who, the first time they were given these little cheeses, took a bite of the red part," she commented. She added that, fortunately, the wax wasn't hard, and only after they laughed at her did they explain that she needed to remove that part to get to the real cheese. In the end, she said that she found the cheese delicious, although expensive.
Users' reactions were quick to come, and many shared similar experiences. One follower commented: "I bit it... but in Cuba, they bathed with it thinking it was soap and that it wouldn't foam"; another user confessed that she and her sister did the same: "My sister and I, we both did it at the same time"; while another joked: "One bite? No, I swallowed it."
Other comments followed the humorous line of the story: "I threw it away because I thought it was an eraser"; "The same thing happened to me and I said I didn't like it," or "I ate the whole thing," were just a few of the reactions. Even someone pointed out that they brought several packages to Cuba because "they're always asked for them."
In the video, @claydis interacted with many of these comments, laughing and thanking everyone who shared their own experiences. "Omgggg, you got me," she said in one of her comments. The anecdote became a space for other users to reveal their mistakes, like someone who confessed, "I ate it like that too and said I didn't like it."
It is clear that experiences with new products, especially those we are not accustomed to seeing, can lead to a lot of laughter and good vibes on social media. And apparently, Babybel has been the star of many of these shared stories.
