Two cases of burglary were reported in Holguín, where the thieves took everything they found, from furniture and appliances to cutlery.
The pro-government journalist Emilio Rodríguez Pupo reported on his Facebook profile that the first incident occurred in the demarcation of Guatemala, Mayarí municipality, and the criminals took advantage of the fact that the owners were traveling in the western part of the country.
"The person to whom they entrusted the custody of the house was involved, according to the investigations," he specified.
Thanks to the collaboration of the neighbors, the police captured the criminals and the stolen goods were returned to their owners. Among the stolen items were valuable pieces of furniture such as chairs, armchairs, and cabinets, mattresses, a water pump, a television, a radio, a stove, and many more.
The other burglary occurred very close by, on O Street itself. The victim, named Yudaisi Ríos Ramírez, went out to attend to her sick mother, and during that time, the thief entered the home.
This week, the police returned Yudaisi her belongings: a VEF radio, remote controls for the TV, an iron, clothing, and even the glasses and spoons from her kitchen.
This week, the police dismantled a gang responsible for million-dollar robberies in homes in Cienfuegos, which operated at night in unoccupied residences.
The criminals were able to steal televisions, household appliances, and money. Among those affected is the owner of a private business, a doctor who was robbed of nearly 30,000 dollars and almost a million CUP pesos, among other residents.
On the other hand, in Guantánamo, a thief was caught in the act by the security camera of a private house.
The video, shared by Tatiana Delgado Ros on her Facebook profile, shows the man climbing over one end of the fence of the house and stealing a lamp that illuminated the entrance.
Last week, a resident in Santiago de Cuba caught a man stealing inside his home, confronted him, and injured him with a machete.
A video shared by communicator Yosmany Mayeta captured the moment when a man pulled the wounded thief out, gripping him tightly by the shirt and putting him in a patrol car, in the presence of two police officers who did not intervene in the arrest.
According to the author of the video, the owner of the house, named Urbano, "came home from work and encountered the thief, and he struck him on the head with a machete."
The source assured that just a few days ago, that man "had his house emptied while he was working" during another robbery.
