Dayexis Alles, a Cuban content creator living in the United States, defended on TikTok her decision to travel to Cuba to visit her family, despite the criticism and opinions received regarding her impending visit to the island.
"In a few days I plan to visit my country and many judge me or ask me why I am going to Cuba," he said, referring to the messages he has received from some users.
In his video, @dayexis3 clarified that his main motivation for returning to the island was his family, especially his mother. "I'm going to Cuba because there I have a large part of my family, my mom is there, and as long as I am alive and able, I will continue to go see her," he affirmed.
He also referred to his mother's pain for not being able to be close to her daughters and grandchildren: "My mother suffers every day for not being able to be with her daughters, for not being able to see her grandchildren grow up."
Throughout the video, Dayexis reflected on what Cuba meant to her. Additionally, she made it clear that, despite the comments against her decision, she would not allow others' opinions to affect her actions: "I have learned to be happy myself, and that people's opinions do not harm me in any way."
His stance has garnered support in the comments, where several users expressed their agreement with his words, also defending the idea of helping the family left in Cuba: "I totally agree with you because when you have family in Cuba, you have to help"; "The day I can, I will too, it hurts me every day not to be able to go"; "I think just like you," they told him.
This type of debate is not new on social media, where many Cubans outside the island find themselves immersed in similar discussions when they decide to return to visit their loved ones or support them financially.
Recently, another Cuban content creator also defended his decision to support his family in Cuba, arguing that his help was not intended to sustain any system, but to ensure the well-being of his loved ones.
