The rise of the Cuyaguateje River as a consequence of the intense rainfall from Hurricane Helene has left several areas of Pinar del Río flooded this Thursday.

On Wednesday, Helene had already caused the first floods in the territory, where there were reports of sea overruns, river overflow, and reservoirs spilling.

In the municipality of Los Palacios, the water from the "La Juventud" Dam flooded the section of the road leading to San Diego de los Baños, near the Villa Amistad area.

As of Tuesday afternoon, out of the 24 reservoirs in the province, 17 were already overflowing, and overall they were at 93% of their filling capacity.

In Puerta de Golpe, a popular council in the municipality of Consolación del Sur, the road to El Palenque was cut off due to heavy rainfall.
