Dozens of Cubans are calling for justice following the violent death of Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carbajal, known as El Taiger, who was a victim of what appears to have been a premeditated crime.

Since the musician was found shot in the forehead in the back of a Mercedes-Benz truck near Jackson Memorial Hospital, the police have been searching for the Cuban Damián Valdez-Galloso, known as "El Narra," who is considered a "person of interest" in the case.

According to several artists close to El Taiger, "El Narra" provided drugs to the reggaeton artist, who regarded him as a friend and introduced him enthusiastically at parties.

It was revealed last Friday that Valdez-Galloso was the last person to be with El Taiger and rented the hotel room where the artist slept the night before the attack.

A strong police operation was deployed at his home in Hialeah, but El Narra was not at the residence, and his phone was turned off.

This 49-year-old man has been registered as a sex offender in Florida since 2007, according to the Homefacts website.

Valdez-Galloso has a criminal record that includes an accusation of sexual assault against a 17-year-old minor in 2007 and an arrest for theft in 2021.

Additionally, he has been detained on at least two occasions by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Currently, the Miami police are offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to their whereabouts, as it is believed that they possess relevant information that could help solve the case.

The agents reported that El Taiger's case "was not a suicide attempt; it was a criminal act."

Lawyer Mayron Gallardo explained to journalist Mario J. Pentón that the individual behind the crime will face a homicide case with first-degree felony charges, which can be punished with the death penalty.

"The person responsible for a crime like this has no right to bail; they will remain in detention the entire time following their arrest, and they may face the death penalty," he detailed.

He argued that the location from which the shot was fired at El Taiger indicated a premeditated crime. He also noted that gas cans were found in the vehicle, which attracted the attention of the police.

"It is something that, according to the laws regarding criminal cases, when a homicide case is involved, is interpreted as a super violent crime that can be punished even with the death penalty," he clarified.

Gallardo stated that the arrest warrant against El Narra was sent to all 49 states after it was issued.

"If the suspect is not found, the investigation will continue to determine if there are other individuals responsible," he stated.

At a press conference last week, the Miami Police stated that they need to question Valdez-Galloso in connection with the attempted murder that occurred near NW 9th Avenue and 17th Street on October 3.

According to the police record, El Narra is 5'09" tall, weighs approximately 186 pounds, has brown eyes and hair, and has tattoos on both arms and on his chest.

The police request that anyone with information about the incident call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 305 471-TIPS (8477) or visit the website crimestoppersmiami305.com.

This Thursday, after a week fighting for his life, El Taiger was pronounced dead by doctors at Jackson Memorial. Hundreds of Cubans have gathered in front of the medical center to pay tribute to the most important representative of Cuban reggaeton of his generation.
