The popular television series "Aída" is preparing for its return to the screen, but this time in a cinematic format, with Paco León directing and writing, while the main cast will reprise their roles in the new installment.

The news was confirmed by Paco León himself on Instagram, who revealed that the title of the film will be "Aída y Vuelta," and filming will begin at the beginning of next year, with the production from Telecinco and The Mediapro Studio.

The film version will be a celebration of the twelfth anniversary of the kickoff (2005) and the tenth anniversary of the series finale, which took place in 2014, and which left so much nostalgia among fans who have long demanded the return of the popular show.

However, Carmen Machi (Aída), Paco León (Luisma), David Castillo (Jonathan), Melani Olivares (Paz Bermejo), Ana Polvorosa (Lorena), Miren Ibargueren (Soraya), Eduardo Casanova (Fidel), Canco Rodríguez (Barajas), Pepa Rus (Macu), and Secun de la Rosa (Toni), among many other characters, will return to delight viewers in a release that is already being applauded by fans.

"There was a lot of enthusiasm from the audience and from us for a reunion. When I was proposed to be the one to direct the project, I had some doubts. Then I came up with an idea and now we are working on it with excitement. It's going to be a very powerful journey for everyone to return to Esperanza Sur," León said in statements collected by Efe.

For his part, Ghislain Barrois, CEO of Telecinco Cinema, stated that "the Aída family, which remains both on and off the screens, wanted to come together again to pay tribute in the form of a film, without it being just another episode of the series"; however, their stories, with the characteristics of each character, will be present in the film.

On several occasions, Paco León, who brought to life the quirky Luisma, has expressed how amazed he is by the affection of Cubans, including those living in Miami.

During an interview, the Spanish artist confessed that he is still surprised when he walks through the streets of Miami and many people, "especially Cubans," stop him to talk or ask for a photo.

"With 'Aída' we were all Sundays in prime time smashing the audiences for 10 years. People keep watching 'Aída', people still have the episodes recorded... In Latin America, in Cuba, 'Aída' is a religion there. Everyone has a collegial relationship with Luisma," he commented.

Precisely for the 18th anniversary of the series' launch (2005), which took place in 2023, some of its protagonists gathered for a viral reunion that brought out the most nostalgic side of fans of the popular fiction, who loved seeing the complicity and affection that still existed among them many years after the end.
