A Cuban mother identified on Facebook as Dayanis Ramírez reported that her teenage son suffered a fracture in his arm at the hands of two police officers who were trying to evict him from a soccer field where he was playing.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the province of Holguín, when a group of children was playing at the sports complex of the University of Medical Sciences, "a place where for generations the kids from the neighborhood gather to play soccer, basketball, and more," the woman stated.
He said that among the teenagers was his 16-year-old son.
According to their testimony, several police officers arrived to remove them from the sports area, claiming that they should no longer be there.
"They were holding them as if they were criminals, and when my son told them he wanted to leave, they started to insult him," he explained.
He claims that at least they responded to him that they didn't have to disrespect him, after which two police officers grabbed him so violently that they broke his arm.
The woman claims that she will not give up until these agents pay for the harm caused to the minor.
"The relevant accusations have already been made, and I hope that the justice system of my country does its part. We are going to go wherever we need to go. Not only did they break his arm, but they also beat him; the head of the 3rd unit in Holguín, a light-eyed major, was the one who broke his arm. The others in the police do not want to give their names, but I will soon know them, a bunch of abusers," the mother emphasized.
Between 2019 and 2023, police violence in Cuba resulted in more than 90 victims, many of whom did not receive justice.
