A Cuban woman in Havana sought help this Tuesday to find her son's dog, a Pekingese that he has grown up with since birth.
Yazmín Remedios Peraza, through a post in the Facebook group "Find Your Lost Pet -Cuba-", pleaded with anyone who has purchased the puppy to get in touch with her.
“This puppy has an owner; it’s a boy, and it was his birth gift. They are the same age and have always been together,” he wrote, adding that buyers will not lose their money and sharing a contact number for further information.
Remedios did not specify whether the dog was stolen or lost, but she did share a photo of the dog along with another screenshot from a Facebook group where a pet very similar to her son's is being sold. She also did not provide any information on whether she reached out to the person who posted the sale ad.
It is common for people to seek help on social media to find their pets, and some even offer a reward to those who return them.
In July, a Cuban family that had reported the theft of their two chihuahua puppies recovered their pets after someone bought them and decided to return them to their owners.
"We found them," remarked Mayrelis Garcés González in the Facebook group "SOS Callejeros Cuba," as she shared images and videos showing the girl's joy at reuniting with her pets.
Some time ago, Rocco and Dorita, a pair of Bulldog puppies that had been stolen from the entrance of a home in the Playa municipality of Havana, were recovered by their owners, who had even offered a reward of one thousand dollars for the two pets.
A social media post from Bienestar Animal Cuba (BAC) detailed that the dogs' guardians received calls from unknown individuals claiming to have Rocco and Dorita.
