For the sixth time this year, the Inter Miami forward, Leo Messi, was named the best player of the week in Major League Soccer (MLS), following his incredible performance in the match against New England Revolution, where he scored an impressive hat-trick in the last half hour.

This is the sixth award Messi has received this season, and Inter Miami celebrated it with a post on X highlighting: "Another day, another award for the GOAT! Messi's hat trick secures him the Player of the Match once again!"

In just 1,485 minutes on the field, Messi has accumulated 20 goals and 16 assists, which was crucial for Inter Miami's success in 2024, who concluded the regular season with a historic record of 74 points.

In addition to his three goals, Messi also provided an assist in the match against the New England Revolution, consolidating his position as one of the standout players in the league. Previously, he had already been recognized as the player of the week in rounds 9, 11, 12, 32, and 36.

With this recognition, Messi becomes the third player in MLS history to receive this award six times in a single season, joining Mexicans Carlos Vela (2019) and Jason Kreis (1999), who were also awarded and finished as league MVPs.

Inter Miami, which has been awarded the Supporters’ Shield for the best club of the regular season, will begin its playoff journey this Friday against an opponent yet to be determined between Atlanta United and Montreal. The first round will be played in a best-of-three format.

Messi and Inter Miami will play in the Club World Cup as guests of FIFA, an announcement made by Gianni Infantino, president of the organization.

After the regular season of MLS, in which they set a points record with 74, the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, officially announced that the Florida team will participate in the universal tournament as the host country's representative.
