Target has lowered the prices of over 2,000 products in various categories with the goal of offering more discounts to customers facing economic difficulties, just before the holiday season.

The retail giant reported on Tuesday that discounts will be applied to selected food and beverages, essential items, Christmas gifts, and products to prepare the home for the festivities.

"We know that families eagerly await the celebrations, which is why Target is committed to helping them find joy without sacrificing quality, with excellent products at even lower prices across our entire range," said Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Target.

"From meal preparation and gifts to everyday items, Target offers exceptional value that will make it easier for everyone to save while enjoying the magic of the season," he added.

Target shared some examples of products with price cuts:

Crisco vegetable oil (40 oz) now $4.79 (was $5.29)

Crema Coffee Mate Natural Bliss (32 oz) now $4.99 (previously $5.29)

Magic Bullet personal blender now $39.99 (was $49.99)

Purina Tidy Cat litter (25 lb) now $7.79 (previously $8.59)

up&up Softgels for Cold and Flu (24 units) now $5.99 (previously $6.99)

LEGO Technic Ford GT 2022 now $95.99 (was $119.99)

Bluey fire truck now $19.99 (previously $24.99)

In May, Target had already reduced prices on about 5,000 frequently purchased items, a number that has increased to 8,000 and will reach 10,000 before the end of the year.

This announcement comes a week after Walmart and Aldi launched their own discounted meal offerings for Thanksgiving.

Walmart announced its "inflation-free" offer, with a cost of less than $7 per person for a traditional dinner, while Aldi offered an alternative for less than $5 per person.

Both Target and Walmart have promoted offers with their private labels to provide more discounts.

The latest official data on retail sales reflects a steady consumer spending, although the annual inflation continues to approach the 2% target set by the Federal Reserve in the United States.

However, a recent report from the same institution indicates that low-income households continue to face financial difficulties, which is reflected in slower growth in retail sales for this group.

In addition, Target announced the hiring of 100,000 temporary employees for the holiday season, in line with the last three years.

Target is one of the largest and most popular retail chains in the United States, known for offering a wide variety of products, from food and essentials to clothing, electronics, and home decor.

Founded in 1962, the company has stood out for combining quality products with competitive prices, attracting millions of consumers seeking convenience and savings.

In addition to its regular offerings, Target is known for collaborating with renowned designers to offer exclusive collections, and its focus on providing a convenient shopping experience both in physical stores and online has positioned it as a benchmark in the sector.

With its distinctive red bullseye logo, Target adapts to the changing needs of consumers, especially during key seasons like Christmas, offering attractive discounts and promotions, as in this case.
