Elon Musk donates one million dollars to those who support his petition, igniting controversy: Legal or illegal?

The petition is aimed at supporting the Constitution, especially the freedoms of speech and the right to bear arms, and is only open to individuals registered to vote in key states for the presidential elections in November.

Elon Musk, technology magnate and fervent supporter of Donald Trump, has announced a controversial initiative that has raised legal concerns in the United States.

Musk has committed to donating one million dollars a day, until election day, to registered voters in key states who sign a petition launched by his political action committee, America PAC.

The petition is aimed at supporting the Constitution, particularly the freedoms of speech and the right to bear arms, and is only open to individuals registered to vote in states such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.

The initiative has sparked intense debate about the legality of offering monetary incentives linked to voter registration, a practice that could violate election laws.

In statements to EuroNews, Rick Hasen, a professor of Political Science at the University of California, pointed out that the law explicitly prohibits paying people to register or vote.

However, Musk continues with his campaign, handing out checks in public, as he recently did in Pennsylvania, where he gave the first million dollars to a member of the audience.

Despite legal doubts, Musk has continued to defend his initiative as a way to mobilize support for constitutional values. The campaign also offers $47 to anyone who gets other registered voters to sign the petition.

While legal experts continue to analyze whether these actions can be considered a violation of electoral laws, Musk remains a central figure in the efforts to mobilize voters in key states for the presidential elections in November.

This initiative, like many others carried out by the billionaire, has generated as much admiration as criticism, and highlights the increasingly influential role of money in American politics.

Musk and his projection in the U.S. electoral scene

The controversial figure of Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, is gaining increasing strength on the stage of American politics, positioning himself as the largest donor to Trump's campaign.

Since July of this year, Musk has donated 75 million dollars to the "Trump America PAC," the Super-PAC that supports the former president in his return to the electoral race.

With this action, the 53-year-old South African magnate reinforces his alliance with the MAGA movement (an acronym for "Make America Great Again"), which he has promoted since the beginning of the campaign.

Despite largely staying out of politics in previous years, and even having clashes with the former president in his history, Musk has taken on an active role in recent months, surprising many political analysts in the lead-up to the elections on the upcoming November 5.

At a rally held in Butler, Pennsylvania, Musk joined Trump at a key campaign event, where he noted that the November elections will be "decisive" for the future of the country.

"If Trump does not win, this will be our last election," he declared, making clear the sense of urgency he feels regarding the political future of the United States.

The reports from the Federal Electoral Commission reveal that Musk's donations have been increasing: 15 million in July, 30 million in August, and another 30 million in September.

With these contributions, Musk not only supports Trump's candidacy but also positions himself as an influential figure in the political and social landscape of the country.
