Mural designer dedicated to El Taiger in Miami: "It's a homage to love and peace, to his children and family."

The painter Rigo León was responsible for creating this design alongside Reinier Villa Herrera, the young artist who painted it on Calle Ocho.

Rigo León, one of the designers of the mural of El Taiger in Miami, which was created by the young artist Reinier Villa Herrera on a wall on Calle Ocho, stated that the work is much more than a tribute to the Cuban reggaeton artist who passed away on October 10.

On his Instagram profile, the artist recounted how this idea materialized and the meanings they wanted to impart to this large-scale painting.

"This mural is not only in homage to El Taiger; it is a tribute to love and peace, a tribute to his children and family who mourn his departure and his mental health," said Rigo León.

"Just a week ago, days after José's passing, with much pain and empathy, my brother and friend of more than 25 years, Nelson Martínez, called me to paint a mural in his honor and thus leave a mark in Miami at El Santo de Calle Ocho, a place that José enjoyed so much. I had painted for them before, but I had a scheduled trip, so I told him it would be an honor but that I wouldn't be in the country. However, before I departed on my pilgrimage journey to Bosnia, I would design the mural together with Reinier Villa, a young emerging Cuban artist and a great friend with whom I have worked before and who is a fan of the artist's music. We all agreed, and in just a few days we had everything ready. Reinier Villa detailed the design, which I feel proud of and grateful for the love he dedicated to it and the time it took him to create it," the painter recounted.

"It is sad to see a friend or family member die, no matter the circumstances; we are all equal in the eyes of God, no one is better than anyone else, no one has the right to judge anyone, and we all deserve a second and third chance. May God have him in glory because all He wants is for you to have a pure heart,” concluded the visual artist.

On the mural, in addition to the smiling face of El Taiger, the initials LBMA and the phrase "La tranka de Cuba" can be seen, which meant so much to him.

Fans, friends, and colleagues of the artist have arrived at the location to fill the mural with graffiti of their signatures and messages for the Cuban reggaeton artist.
