Felton Thermoelectric Plant is offline from the National Electric System in Cuba.

The forecast for power outages this Tuesday has surged to a figure significantly higher than the prediction made the previous day.

The "Lidio Ramón Pérez" Thermal Power Plant, known as Felton, was taken offline from the National Electric System (SEN) for "partial maintenance," as reported by the entity itself on its Facebook profile.

"The 'Lidio Ramón Pérez' Felton ETE has begun to reduce its load for partial maintenance. The main work will focus on the boiler," the publication specified, though it did not provide details on how long the thermoelectric plant, located in Mayarí, Holguín province, is expected to remain offline from the national electrical system (SEN).

Cuba's Unión Eléctrica (UNE) specified in the power outage report for October 29 that the "urgent" maintenance of Felton will last for 10 days.

"This morning, Unit 1 of the Felton CTE will be taken out of service to carry out necessary scheduled maintenance for a duration of 10 days," they stated.

The UNE specified that in addition to the Felton, two other units are out of service for maintenance: Unit 2 of the Santa Cruz CTE and Unit 5 of the Renté CTE.

Out of the National Electric System due to malfunction are unit 3 of the Santa Cruz Thermal Power Plant, unit 3 of the Cienfuegos Thermal Power Plant, and unit 2 of the Felton Thermal Power Plant.

In total, there are six thermal generating units out of the National Electric System: three due to breakdowns and another three for maintenance.

The forecast for blackouts this Tuesday has surged to 1,318 MW, significantly higher than the previous day's estimate of 1,060 MW, which, as usual, turned out to be an underestimate: Cubans experienced actual blackouts of 1,200 MW this past Monday.

There is no relief for Cubans in terms of energy issues.

In the midst of the energy crisis facing the country, which reached its peak on October 18 with the massive blackout that left Cubans on edge for several days, the news of maintenance work at Felton exacerbates the public's discontent.

This is not Felton's first "maintenance" this year; in May, a 25-day outage was announced due to this reason, and in August, it went out of service due to a breakdown.
