They update on the progress of the restoration of the Cuban electrical system.

The Electric Union has expressed optimism, at the dawn of this Tuesday, about the progress of the recovery of the Cuban electrical system.

At dawn on this Tuesday, official sources and the Electric Union have provided an update on the electrical situation in the country.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines indicated that in the report from the Electric Union at 6:00 a.m. (local time), 70.89% of customers in Cuba already had electric service.

"Today, the strengthening of the established systems and the expansion of electrical coverage in the country continues," they added on X.

"In Pinar del Río, 65 MW of electricity are already being supplied through the SEN lines. The province is connected to the western system, which extends to Matanzas," wrote journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso on Facebook.

Pinar del Río was one of the provinces with the worst outlook since the massive blackout that occurred at noon last Friday, meaning that the population of Pinar del Río had been without electricity for more than three days.

In another post, Alonso specified that in the early morning, electricity service was restored throughout the western system, from Pinar del Río to part of Matanzas.

On the morning of this Tuesday, the Felton 1 unit was synchronized, and the purpose is to connect it with Renté to strengthen the eastern system.

He also said - quoting words from Lázaro Guerra Hernández, general director of the Electricity of the Unión Eléctrica (UNE) - that four engines in Moa are already generating, and that during the day others could start up to increase coverage in the eastern provinces.

Unit 4 of Cienfuegos is already in the startup process, and it is expected to synchronize during the night. If successful, the system could be linked from the west to the east, as that unit regulates the frequency of the system.

With the link between Felton and Renté, electricity coverage in Santiago de Cuba, which is only 9% this morning, will be increased. Coverage in Granma and Guantánamo will also benefit. However, there will still be disruptions due to a deficit in generation capacity while all units are incorporated.

The Electric Union (UNE) of Cuba confirmed early on October 22 that it is in the process of starting up Unit 4 of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Thermoelectric Plant in Cienfuegos.

As of 5:00 p.m. yesterday, there were 704 circuits (1,704,728 customers) with service out of a total of 1,931 existing circuits in the country (4,290,700 customers). This figure represented only a 39.73% recovery.
