The July 11, 2021, protester Meivis Mulen Díaz, 54 years old, was released after serving a four-year prison sentence in Camagüey.

The information was provided by the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights, which stated that "during his confinement, Mulen Díaz was systematically subjected to cruel treatment, starvation, and even a lack of medication for his illnesses."

According to Díaz's account in 2021, he was arrested on July 11 and was released on the 14th of the same month under a precautionary measure that prevented him from leaving his home.

“My home has been besieged by thugs and frontmen of the regime who have not ceased to watch me constantly,” specified the opposition member, who stated that he has continued to receive visits at his residence from police and State Security agents.

The opposition member asserted that his life since July 11 has been a nightmare due to the constant harassment from regime enforcers. “They have me under constant pressure; as a human being, they don’t allow me to have peace, which is why I fear for my life, as well as for the lives of my children and my family.”

Recently, after ten days on a hunger strike due to the denial of an interview by the authorities of a Cuban prison, Professor Pedro Albert Sánchez is now at home, having been granted a one-year extrapenal leave.

The release of the professor, who was imprisoned in 1580 in San Miguel del Padrón, has been celebrated by several Cuban activists, who see this event as a victory in the fight for the liberation of political prisoners.

This year, the activist from the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), Fernando González Vaillant, was also released after spending more than two years in prison and losing over 50 pounds (24 kilograms) due to hunger, illness, and the conditions of the penitentiary.
