Cuban-Spanish singer-songwriter Amaury Muro released his much-anticipated single "Overbooking de amor" this Friday, a song that humorously explores the complexity of polyamory and emotional responsibility.
Muro tackles these themes using décima verses, accompanied by a blend of rhythms that includes bossa nova, son, pop, and a hint of reggae. The song has been available on all digital platforms since November 8.
An "Overbooking of Love" that will make you smile.
"Overbooking de amor" tells the story of a polyamorous individual who finds themselves caught in an emotional whirlwind and, one day, is surprised to discover their own solitude.
Muro, based in Madrid, claims that he has not experienced polyamorous relationships and believes that it is not an experience suitable for everyone.
However, the singer confessed to CiberCuba that he once dared to experiment with how life flows in an "open relationship."
The song is inspired by the experiences of a group of friends who have felt what it's like to "love big," without any exclusivity agreements. Polyamory is compared to an "overbooked flight," where an excess of emotional connections can exceed tolerance in certain circumstances.
Who is Amaury Muro?
The artist of Cuban origin, now a Spanish national, has been awarded multiple times, including honors such as Festimad (2018) and Sabina por aquí (2019).
He has managed to feature in Spotify playlists under the "Singer-Songwriters" category. He is building a career as an independent musician, creating, promoting, and funding his art autonomously.
The premiere of "Overbooking de amor" follows a successful concert that Muro held on November 1 at the Galileo Galilei Hall in Madrid, alongside the Cuban poet, improviser, and writer Alexis Díaz-Pimienta.
Under the title "The Décima and the Song," the event celebrated the fusion of improvised poetry and music. The Cubans established a unique connection with the Madrid audience, exploring the deep roots of the island's culture in Spain.
Amaury Muro began his music career at the age of 16. He has taken his talent to international stages and is striving to become a benchmark in the Cuban and Spanish music scene.
"Overbooking de amor" reaffirms its provocative and relatable style while reminding us of the importance of emotional responsibility in our affectionate relationships. The singer is determined to secure his place among the most innovative voices in contemporary trova.
