Friends of Alexis Muñoz García, a Cuban who passed away in Redland, Miami-Dade County, are seeking justice for the victim, who was reportedly struck by a driver who fled the scene.
“Rest in peace my friend, we ask for justice for that great man, friend, and excellent father. May God hold you in His holy glory, rest in peace El PONI,” wrote the user Yoscani Nicolás on Facebook.
Alexis Muñoz was a 46-year-old man, married and the father of three children, who had recently emigrated to Florida.
The tragic incident occurred early last Monday when Muñoz, who was commuting to work on a scooter, was hit by a vehicle that then fled the scene.
According to the police, as reported by Telemundo 51, the vehicle involved first collided with a house on Southwest 232nd Street and 194th Avenue before striking the man on 208th Street and the same avenue, leaving the scene immediately afterward.
Yaicel Santana Muñoz, the victim's cousin, stated that Alexis was on his way to work at the time of the accident.
On Facebook, the user Bárbara Ortega Cristia remembered the deceased in the group "REVOLICO EN ESMERALDA." "You will always be in our hearts," she wrote.
