An incident of insecurity occurred yesterday, Friday, in the city of Holguín, when a Cuban had his motorcycle stolen just one day after putting it up for sale.
The victim had posted on social media about selling the transportation vehicle, unaware that just hours later they would become a target for criminals.
According to the report, the robbery was carried out by a couple, “a light-brown man and a woman with black hair wearing ripped jeans,” in the 18-story building in Holguín. “They headed towards the beach road at the roundabout,” said Osbel Ochoa, a friend of the victim, in several Facebook groups.
In the sale announcement shared in the Facebook group "Motorinas y Triciclos Holguín," the vehicle was described as an original motorcycle, a new EM 50S box. The battery was also new and, according to the seller, remained under warranty.
Other accessories that were included were handles, handle covers, mirrors, bearings, skins, electrical installations, support (cucho), paint, wallpaper, box, and maintenance.
The affected individual called for vigilance regarding possible offers of his motorcycle on the black market and urged anyone with relevant information to report it to the numbers 50110513 and 55315721.
This case has raised concerns among Cubans, who have reported an increase in vehicle thefts, particularly motorcycles, in recent months.
Another person in the comments section reported that their motorcycle was stolen in Holguín last Saturday. The individual, who is originally from Las Tunas, mentioned that they traveled to the neighboring province to sell it, but it was taken near the Santiago-Havana terminal. They also added that the same thing happened to another young person from their locality. "Unfortunately, the police have not taken any action regarding this," they concluded.
The thefts of this type of vehicle are not only reported in the eastern province; these transport thieves have also proliferated in other parts of the country.
In September, a Cuban mother residing in the municipality of San José de las Lajas, the capital of the Mayabeque province, reported the theft of her motorcycle while she was dropping her daughter off at school.
A few days ago, the alleged thieves of an electric motorcycle in Diez de Octubre, Havana, were captured by surveillance cameras from homes in the area.
