The Cuban government is housing families affected by the earthquake in tents in Pilón, Granma

Residents of Pilón are reporting that the government is not addressing other affected areas and are lacking water, food, and adequate shelter.

The Cuban government has set up tents to shelter families affected by the earthquakes measuring 6 and 6.7, which had their epicenters southeast of the Granma province. However, the measure has drawn criticism for its limited scope and the lack of assistance to other equally affected communities.

The earthquakes and aftershocks, which are still being felt in that area of eastern Cuba, have so far resulted in ten injuries and at least 3,752 damaged buildings, forcing authorities to implement emergency measures to assist those affected.

In a report aired by Canal Caribe, which documented the visit of ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel to the area, the campaign tents set up on land adjacent to the area known as Los Edificios were showcased.

However, residents of Pilón have reported that government attention is focused solely on that area, leaving other communities equally affected by the earthquake unprotected.

Through social media, a resident expressed her concern: "The leaders think that Los Edificios is all of Pilón, but that's not the case. La Pesquera, Manta, La Marina, Marea, and Mota have also been severely affected, with collapsed homes and families without food, water, or a place to sleep. Many children are without milk, and in La Pesquera and Manta, people are sleeping on the streets. Meanwhile, in Los Edificios, they set up tents as if the rest of Pilón doesn't need assistance."

The report also highlights the critical situation in Calabaza, where several people are left without basic resources.

After the main earthquakes, which caused significant material damage in the region, numerous aftershocks have been recorded. As of November 16, the National Seismological Service had registered 3,648 aftershocks, of which 97 were felt by the population.

These replicas have kept the population on alert, especially in the most affected municipalities, where people continue to be psychologically impacted by the constant fear of new tremors.
