Hialeah activates Christmas police operation to ensure safety for residents

The Hialeah City Hall and police announced the 2024 Holiday Safety Initiative, aimed at preventing crime and ensuring community safety throughout the season, up to the New Year celebrations.

Authorities in the city of Hialeah have launched a police operation for the Christmas 2024 season aimed at enhancing public safety and ensuring the peace of residents and visitors.

Mayor Esteban Bovo and Police Chief George Fuente announced at a press conference the 2024 Holiday Safety Initiative in the southern Florida city, aimed at preventing crime and ensuring community safety throughout the season, from next Friday - after Thanksgiving - until New Year's Eve.

The action plan will remain active seven days a week, without interruption. The police will conduct patrols both day and night in the busiest areas of the city, such as shopping malls and residential neighborhoods.

To achieve this, Fuente assured that all police units, including specialized ones such as the Canine Unit (K-9), motorized patrols, undercover units, and rapid response teams, will be operational 24 hours a day, strategically deployed to prevent all types of crime and respond quickly to any incident.

The authorities also emphasized the importance of citizen collaboration as a key element in ensuring the success of the operation. "If you see something suspicious, report it," they urged.

"We want every resident and visitor to feel that they can rely on us. Security is a shared responsibility, and together we can protect our community," emphasized the police chief.

For his part, Mayor Bovo emphasized that "this crime prevention effort will continue non-stop, seven days a week, until New Year's" and reaffirmed that "the Hialeah Police are committed to ensuring a safe environment for residents and visitors, allowing everyone to enjoy safe Christmas shopping."

He also reminded the residents and visitors of Hialeah to "stay vigilant." "Let us work together to have a safe holiday season," he urged.

The authorities emphasized that citizens should remain vigilant of their surroundings and take additional precautions, such as safeguarding their belongings and promptly reporting any suspicious activity to local authorities.

They also advised people to avoid leaving valuable items in plain sight in vehicles and to be cautious when using ATMs, especially at night.

Hialeah, also known as "the city that progresses," will celebrate its centennial in 2025, a milestone that has already begun to be commemorated with the recent unveiling of the logo created for the celebration.
