The municipality of Güines, in the province of Mayabeque, recorded the lowest temperature of this Wednesday morning in Cuba, with a minimum of 8.9 °C.

This notable drop in temperature made the area the coldest point in the country during a night marked by the collapse of the National Electroenergetic System (SEN), leaving millions of Cubans without electricity.

Meteorologist Frank Fernández Castañeda reported on Facebook that other locations also experienced unusually low temperatures for this time of year.

Notable temperatures include Isabel Rubio at 11.8 °C, Bauta at 12.0 °C, Jagüey Grande at 12.4 °C, and Topes de Collantes, which reached 12.5 °C.

In other areas of the country, significantly low temperatures were also recorded. Aguada de Pasajeros registered 12.7 °C, Santo Domingo reached 13.5 °C, while El Jíbaro reported 13.5 °C and Júcaro hit 14.0 °C.

San Juan y Martínez and Playa Girón recorded a temperature of 14.1 °C, while La Piedra and Cienfuegos noted 14.8 °C. Finally, Sancti Spíritus, Camilo Cienfuegos, and La Palma reported temperatures of 15.4 °C, 15.5 °C, and 15.7 °C, respectively.

The Meteorological Institute of Cuba forecasted that this Wednesday would be cloudy in the eastern region, with some scattered showers and rain expected along the northern coast of Holguín and Guantánamo, with more isolated occurrences in the rest of the province.

According to the bulletin, afternoon temperatures are expected to range from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius, while at night they will drop to between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius, with lower values in inland areas and higher ones in coastal regions.

In November, temperatures in Cuba dropped, particularly in some areas of Matanzas, where the thermometer fell below 10 degrees.

According to information from the Meteorology Institute (INSMET), the early morning was quite cold in areas of the western and central regions, from Matanzas to Ciego de Ávila, with minimum temperatures ranging between 13 and 14 degrees Celsius (°C).

The lowest temperature was recorded at the Indio Hatuey weather station in Matanzas, at 9.7 °C.

The next day, the province of Artemisa experienced a notably cold morning, with temperatures dropping to 12°C, prompting its residents to dust off their coats.
