Cuba experienced a chilly early morning this Monday, with temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius reported in areas of the western and central parts of the country.

At the Indio Hatuey weather station in Matanzas, the thermometers dropped to 9.8 °C, and in Santo Domingo, Villa Clara, they recorded 10.2 °C, reported the Forecast Center of the Cuban Institute of Meteorology (Insmet).

In Falla, Ciego de Ávila, a temperature of 12.5 °C was recorded; in Jovellanos, Matanzas, it was 13.0 °C; in Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara, 13.2 °C; and in Jagüey Grande, Matanzas, and Júcaro, Ciego de Ávila, 13.5 °C.

Insmet indicated that a system of "migratory high pressures of continental origin continues to influence the Cuban archipelago and its adjacent seas" and "maintains a very dry air mass that has been limiting rainfall in much of the national territory."

These conditions favored a "marked decrease in temperatures" during the early morning, with "lows that, according to available data, ranged between 13 and 16 degrees Celsius, lower in inland areas and higher in coastal regions." The lowest value reported was from the Indio Hatuey station (9.8 °C).

At noon on this Monday, satellite images showed the prevalence of partial clouds in the western region of Cuba, as well as in the southern part of the central region, reported Insmet.

"In the rest of the country, there will be mostly clear skies with occasional cloudiness in northern coastal areas. For the remainder of today, atmospheric stability will prevail across much of the Cuban archipelago, with minimal precipitation," the weather report specified.

Cuba is facing a week characterized by low temperatures, with particularly cold mornings and wintry days that could record the season's lowest values.

This phenomenon will be influenced by the arrival of a new cold front and an air mass that will cover the entire national territory.

According to meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez's report on Facebook, a frontal system will arrive in the western part of the country during the early hours of this Tuesday, bringing isolated rain before dissipating in its southern region.

After its passage, a significant drop in temperatures is expected. The coldest days are forecasted to be next Wednesday and Thursday.

"Very cold early mornings are expected, and we could even be recording the lowest temperatures of the winter season," Ruisánchez stated, warning that it will be a week where wearing coats will be essential.
