According to a report on his Facebook wall by the user Manuel Viera, the incident occurred in the neighborhood of Los Pajales, near the location known as La Ovejera.

The attacker, named Israel, had been reported by his stepdaughter for sexual abuse and was in prison.

"When he was released, he attacked his mother and daughter with a machete and then committed suicide by hanging. There are accounts suggesting that the stepdaughter's report was unjust, while other accounts describe a man who mistreated his wife," he detailed.

Mother and daughter survived their injuries, but they are reported to be in serious condition at the Bayamo hospital.

"My son was at the clinic when they arrived with them. He says that the most injured was the girl, who is 15 years old. A woman came with them and this woman reported that the girl's arms were in almost unsalvageable condition, she said," reported Judith Miniet, a neighbor from the area.

"The first ambulance took the girl, who was in very bad condition. The mother was transferred in a second ambulance. She had injuries to her head and abdomen. They had lost a lot of blood, and both were in serious condition, although the girl was in worse shape," he added.
