"Trump is going to apply it to us": The prediction of an elderly woman interviewed by Cuban television

The handful of Havana residents questioned once again highlighted the misinformation and manipulation to which Cubans are subjected, as well as the mechanism of simulation developed by a people that is very careful about expressing their true thoughts.

The official television network took its cameras to the streets of Havana to ask its residents about Cuba's removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, providing a report filled with “opinions” aligned with the regime's narrative.

A handful of Havana residents agreed to be questioned by the Cuban Television News (NTV), once again highlighting the disinformation and manipulation that Cubans are subjected to, as well as the mechanism of simulation developed by a people that is very cautious about expressing their true thoughts.

Despite the fact that everyone expressed a favorable opinion towards the decision recently made by the Biden administration, arguing the benefits that the removal from the list will bring, such as "advancing further" or "recovering the economy more," and described it as "something very good," the reality is that the interviewees reflected a mood of uncertainty, masked by the clichés of the regime's propaganda.

“Cuba has never been in any terrorist country. That is a slander that the Americans are spreading. Everyone knows that this is a big lie. Those who refuse to see this do so because they do not want to come to terms with reality,” said Robertico “El Calvo” to national television.

“It is very good not to be on the list because it gives us freedom for many things,” said Josefa Fernández. “Thanks to that, we will be able to enter into negotiations with countries that are on that same list, we can make a bit more progress in the country's economy, because we already have a better level of trust. The world has more confidence in us because of this,” said David Silvera.

"Regarding that, let's see if the next president doesn't reinstate it, because I think the same thing happened with Obama. Obama removed it and then Trump came and reinstated it," said David Sánchez.

However, two elderly women walking along Martí Street in the municipality of Guanabacoa took the prize, and with the Panamerican Store 'La Arcada' behind them, they became fervent against "the Americans" and displayed the full repertoire of patriotic slogans accumulated over their long lives.

“I believe that we will succeed and we will not accept being called terrorists, nor will we allow them to say that we are whatever they want... The terrorists are them, who are destroying all the countries!” expressed the elderly woman identified as Xiomara Llanes with great agitation.

His companion concluded the report with a reflection in which he expressed a preference for the decision to have been made by the next U.S. president, "because now Biden is leaving office, but that damn Trump is coming in, who doesn't want to know about anyone, and then he's going to impose it on us in such a way, that neither the embargo, nor whether we are terrorists or not will matter…".

Indignant with the assessment and driven by her passion, the elderly woman ended up arguing that “Cuba cannot be a terrorist country, because Cuba is a unified people and cannot be a terrorist.” And to conclude, she requested “the revolution to bring light and progress for all of us, because thanks to it we are alive.”
