A driver hit an elderly woman on a street in El Vedado, Havana, and stayed at the scene to assist her.
The incident occurred on Wednesday just before noon at the intersection of 17th and K Streets, according to a witness who shared photos on their Facebook profile.
It wasn't the motorcyclist's fault, but rather the grandmother's negligence. (As far as I know)," revealed Aramis Taboada, announcer and audiovisual director.
Two things caught Taboada's attention that pleased him and made him think that there is still humanism left in the Cuban people.
"Everyone who was there rushed to the grandmother to help her, worried about her, called emergency services, including the police, and stayed at the scene until they managed to lift her up. They asked for help from a man driving a Mercedes Benz, who stopped and took her to the hospital without hesitating for a second. That Cuban deserves a round of applause!" he detailed.
In addition to the positive reaction from the passersby in the area, the motorist behaved appropriately and was attentive to the lady the entire time, showing great concern.
"He stayed there, preserving the scene, waiting for the authorities. He didn't move from that spot for over 40 minutes, as far as I could tell. He didn’t mind at all being filmed. He didn’t care. His commendable, honorable, and responsible attitude is worthy of admiration. He didn’t even move the motorcycle from the spot where the incident occurred...," the witness clarified.
