The report was prepared by the economic advisory firm SmartAsset and cited by the media Florida Politics, which detailed that a family of four needs $217,651 per year to meet their needs without financial strain.

Although Florida does not top the rankings of the most expensive states to live in, the economic pressure on its residents is significant. A recent analysis placed the state in 13th place regarding housing costs, noting that, on average, Floridians spend more than 30% of their income on mortgage payments and household services.
This figure rises dramatically for renters, who must allocate more than 42% of their monthly income to pay for rent and basic services, placing Florida among the four most expensive states for renting.
The outlook for those aspiring to a middle-class life is not encouraging either. To be considered part of this socioeconomic segment in Florida, a household needs an annual income ranging from $48,869 to $146,622.
This segment reflects a considerable increase compared to previous years, resulting from a sustained rise in the cost of housing, food, and other essential services.
Despite this ranking placing Florida below states like California or Massachusetts, the incomes that provided stability a decade ago are no longer sufficient to cover the average cost of living.
