Cuban model Haniset Rodríguez made a comeback on her social media after more than a year of absence and surprised her followers by confessing that she was a victim of a multimillion-dollar real estate scam in South Florida.

"Hello, hello everyone, how are you? Well, stick around because the information I'm going to share might help you avoid going through what I experienced over a year ago. I was scammed, and that's why I've been absent from social media," she explained in a video posted on Instagram.

Rodríguez recounted that the situation caused her a severe depression and forced her to pause her public life while she faced a legal process against those responsible. She shared that she invested in several plots of land and, following the recommendation of a trusted realtor, gave a considerable sum to a construction company to develop homes that would later be sold.

"Everything was done legally, with signed documents and seemingly in order. I never thought that what happened would happen to me. These people disappeared, did not answer their phones, and never did anything at all," he noted.

The artist explained that, during her investigation, she discovered that it was an organized network of scammers based in Cape Coral. "We are more than 11 families affected by these individuals. They have stolen a lot of money from many people. We're talking about one person losing 100,000 dollars, another even more, and so on," she stated.

Rodríguez stated that he has already filed a lawsuit with his lawyer and that the case is progressing in the courts. "Thank God I have the lawsuit in my favor. Now we have to wait for the process of collecting that money, which I hope will be returned to me, because it’s all I’ve wanted so far," he said.

The model warned that some Cuban artists and influencers have been collaborating with side businesses run by scammers, even promoting culinary ventures in Cape Coral. Although she did not reveal any names, she urged her colleagues to be cautious.

Finally, Rodríguez shared that the damage has not only been economic but also emotional. “The emotional damage has been incredible, both for me and for others. There were people who wanted to take their own lives. Imagine an elderly person who worked their whole life to save some money, and suddenly it’s taken away from them,” he concluded.
