Artemiseño Diosbel Arias debuted in style in minor league baseball, capturing the batting crown in the Northwest League, short Class-A level.

There Arias works with the Spokane Indians, a branch of the Texas Rangers with whom he signed in July 2017 for a sum of 700 thousand dollars bonus. The efficient shortstop, third baseman and waiter, compiled a .366 average (82 hits in 224 at-bats), outperforming the other hitters in the league.

The Cuban closest to Arias was Julio Pablo Martínez with .252 and 22 extra-base hits. Although Arias' power does not place him among the franchise's best prospects, his doubles production (15) was acceptable, and he looks like a contact bat, good selection and speed.

The West Indian still does not appear among the first 30 prospects of the Texas organization, these lists are almost always made from the biggest contracts and highest draft picks. However, Arias will change his status very soon and his talent is enough to reach the Major Leagues.
