Omar Linares extends contract in Japan

El Niño Linares will return to his coaching duties at the Chunichi Dragons.

The Cuban former baseball playerOmar Linares extended his contract as coach of theChunichi Dragons, Japan's minor league baseball team.

The employment contract is through the Cuban Baseball Federation and the institution was represented in the official signing of the document, by its president Juan Reynaldo Pérez. Sports journalist Tony Díaz left images in X of the moment.

Swing Completo He said that Niño Linares will return to his duties as coach in Chunichi Dragons, a team in which he served as an athlete between 2002 and 2004.

Omar Linares was hired in 2016 to train the Japanese team. The Asians are happy with their work because the performance of their players has improved.

Also with theChunichi Dragons renewed contract onpitcher Frank Abel Álvarez who said that this team has been crucial for his sports career and that the rehiring comes thanks to the effort of three years of work with the Japanese franchise.

"They have helped me grow as an athlete and as a person. Thanks to learning in Japan I can contribute more to the Cuban baseball team," commented Álvarez.

While the different baseball leagues in the world improve with the presence of Cuban players, as coaches and as athletes, the National Series is getting worse and worse, it is in the doldrums.

This week the prominent former pitcher José Ariel Conteras, who lives in Florida, assured that"The National Series in Cuba is going to end", after seeing the recent presentations of the island team in the 2023 edition of the Pan American Games in Chile.
