Sep 19 (Reuters) - The pop bandMaroon 5 will give a halftime show at the 2019 edition of the Super Bowl, reported WednesdayVariety, citing two unidentified sources.

The publication stated that sources confirmed that the band, led by Adam Levine, will be in charge of the show at the NFL championship game on February 3, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia.

MagazineUs Weekly, meanwhile, cited an unidentified source who said that the band was offered the concert and that the agreement "is practically ready."

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement Wednesday that the NFL "has no announcement to make about what will be another epic spectacle." Representatives for Maroon 5 did not respond to requests for comment.

The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the highest-profile entertainment events in the United States, attracting tens of millions of viewers.

Artists who have performed at the NFL event include Beyonce,Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen y Prince.

The 2018 Super Bowl, in which Justin Timberlake starred, was watched by an audience of 103 million people, the largest for any television event in the United States.
