The Cuban super prospect of the Houston Astros, Yordan Álvarez, stole the show on Saturday night of the minor leagues by hitting three home runs in one game.
Álvarez, a native of Las Tunas, who emigrated in 2015, was originally signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but in a horrible trade that those in L.A. must be regretting right now, Álvarez was sent to the Astros for reliever Josh Fields.
The left-handed hitter went 3 for 3 with three homers and a walk and is now hitting .444 (9 for 4). It is very likely that the 21-year-old, who debuted in the National Series at 16, will be promoted to MLB at some point in 2019.
He is thought to be the replacement for first basemen Yuliesky Gurriel and Tyler White. There is no doubt that Álvarez is Houston's near future.
In 2018, he hit .293 with 20 home runs between Double-A and Triple-A, in addition to having participated in the last two Future Stars games, which brings together the best Major League prospects.
