Miami, April 9 (EFEUSA).- Mexican soap opera actor Pablo Lyle He spent the night in a Miami prison and today he is expected to be placed on the electronic shackle that he will have to wear at least until the next hearing for the death of a man whom he hit in a traffic argument on March 31.
The beaten man, Juan Ricardo Hernández, a 63-year-old Cuban, who had to be hospitalized after the argument, died last Thursday and Lyle, who was free on $5,000 bail and had been authorized to travel to Mexico, had to return to the United States for a court hearing that took place this Monday.
Judge Alan S. Fine raised the bail imposed on the actor to $50,000, withdrew his passport and prohibited him from leaving Miami until the next hearing in the case, set for May 1.
After that hearing, Lyle was taken to jail, where, according to Hispanic television channels, he spent the night and was still there this morning.
The defense alleged that Lyle acted in self-defense and had "no intention of killing anyone," but the Prosecutor's Office considered that this may be a case of second-degree murder and requested that the bail be raised to one million dollars.
During the hearing, in which Pablo was accompanied by his wife, actress Ana Araujo, a woman fainted and had to be treated by emergency services.
Although it was said that it was Lyle's mother, it was later learned that it was the woman that Hernández had planned to marry around this time.
According to a video recorded by a security camera, after hitting Hernández, the car in which Lyle was traveling as a passenger left the scene, leaving the Cuban unconscious on the ground.
The 32-year-old actor was arrested hours later and later released on bail after posting $5,000 bail.
On Tuesday, April 2, he asked the court for permission to travel to his country, which was granted by Miami-Dade County Magistrate Lisa Walsh.
That same judge, when Hernández's death was announced on Friday, ordered the actor to appear at a hearing on Monday to review his bail.
"It is a tragedy, an absolute tragedy; but Mr. Lyle did not intend to kill anyone. It is not a case of murder," Bruce Lehr, one of the Mexican actor's lawyers, told the media at the conclusion of the hearing.
The lawyers informed the judge that Lyle had received "multiple death threats on social media" since news of the death of the man he punched became known.
Lyle, star of the soap opera "My Adorable Curse," stated that he left the scene because he feared for the safety of his six-year-old son, who was traveling with him.
The Univision network indicated that Lyle will no longer act in the film "Instructions for His" and was replaced by Giuseppe Gamba. EFEUSA
