Right-hander Wilton Castillo was not part of the Industriales roster in the 59th National Series and that is how he chose to open another path in the world of baseball.

Castillo, 20 years old, is not the same boy as a few months ago. Training in San Pedro de Macorís, he has attracted the attention of several Major League organizations with his height of 6.8 and a more than attractive starting angle.

"With about 20 or 30 pounds more I could get close to 100 miles," said one scout who did not reveal his identity.

In the world of prospects live both facts and projections. Castillo has a lot of room to improve his speed, weight, command and secondary throws.

That is why it has become of immediate interest. He has received offers from the Phillies and will report to the St. Louis Academy tomorrow. Castillo, from San Miguel del Padrón in Havana City, could be closer than thought to starting his professional career.
