Before leaving Cuba, right-hander Reymond Piñeiro was on the roster of the Matanzas Crocodiles for the 59th National Baseball Series.
Piñeiro, who turned 19 a few days ago and belongs to the province of Mayabeque, envisioned a more future in the search for a professional contract than to continue on the Island where he was born.
He is a pitcher with a variety of resources, speed between 88 and 90 miles, who trains daily in the Dominican Republic dreaming of signing for a Major League organization.
Piñeiro left notable performances in the National Under-23 Championship. One of them was when he threw seven zeros with three strikeouts against his province Mayabeque pitching for Matanzas.
"I characterize myself as a commando pitcher," Piñeiro told CyberCuba.
However, its speed has increased since arriving in the Dominican Republic. Piñeiro is confident that if he reaches 92-93 miles the contract he has sought so much will not escape him.
Piñeiro has been in four or five appearances against Major League organizations. He does not lose hope that he will soon be able to achieve the purpose that motivated him to leave his country.
