George Floyd and the former Minneapolis police officer who allegedly caused his death by pressing his knee against the African American's neck had worked together at a nightclub in the city, the former owner of the place said.

He explained that Floyd was characterized by his big smile, and worked as an additional security guard during the popular "urban" music nights organized by the club on Tuesdays.
While, Chauvin, who was arrested on Friday, supported the security of the bar during its off-duty hours for almost 17 years, so Santamaría believes that at some point they could have coincided.
"We all worked together certain nights and they would have crossed paths," he explained.
Regarding the events that led to Floyd's death, Santamaría stated that he was shocked when he saw the video that shows him handcuffed and on the ground saying: "I can't breathe," while Chauvin continued with his knee on the neck of the African American who died in the place.
"I didn't understand what I was seeing. I kept yelling at my phone telling Chauvin to get off it. It's horrible. It's absolutely indescribable," the man said.
Chauvin faces charges of murder and manslaughter in the third degree for Floyd's death, according to Hennepin County Prosecutor Mike Freeman.
The death of the African-American after the former police officer immobilized him by pressing his knee against the victim's neck unleashed a wave of protests in the United States, rejecting police violence and discrimination.
This Saturday, the autopsy result once again warmed the spirits of thousands of people in the country, by revealing that the 46-year-old man died due to a combination of factors including his medical history.
"The autopsy revealed no physical evidence to support the diagnosis of traumatic asphyxiation or strangulation. Mr. Floyd had pre-existing medical conditions, including coronary artery disease and a hypertensive heart," said the Hennepin County coroner, in the state of Minnesota.
The results were released hours after Chauvin was taken into police custody.
