Cuban Marlins prospect will seek new challenges in his young career

After a 2020 in which there was no Minor League season, the native of Mayabeque continued training in the city of Miami under the supervision of Maels Rodríguez and his 100 miles Club academy.

Bargallo, who emigrated from Cuba in 2018, spoke with CyberCuba about the preparation he has been doing and what he expects for the 2021 campaign.

"First of all, I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be here every day, to practice, to have the opportunity to share with Maels Rodríguez and a coaching staff with wisdom and experience in the game," said the left-hander who has thrown more than 90 miles and has a special athletic condition.

Bargallo had a high-profile professional debut in the Dominican Summer League at the beginning of the journey through professional baseball.

He went 2-0, with a 3.66 ERA, and despite his 18 walks in 19.2 innings, he struck out 33 batters for an average of 15.9 per nine innings. However, the Antillean knows that he must continue perfecting his tools.

"Maels has been a very important point for me at this stage of my career. He had many deficiencies in mechanics and every day we are working and making many adjustments," adds the 19-year-old talent.

"What I want is to have more perfect mechanics so I can control my pitches better," he says.

Bargallo will continue in 2021 with the Marlins and should be placed in Class-A. The left-hander is confident of being able to face this new challenge and start on the right foot in the United States baseball system.

"Yes, I will always be ready to face opportunities at any time, in whatever league and at whatever level, so continue to control pitches, keep attacking hitters and continue working hard."
