Loreto Hernández García, leader of the Yoruba religion in Cuba, summoned the Castro authorities after State Security agents summoned him to their offices and threatened to take him to prison, in retaliation for his participation in the protests against the government that occurred this week in Placetas, Villa Clara.

Hernández García called on the public to keep their eyes on what could happen to him, although he made it very clear that he is not afraid if he is finally imprisoned.

"For me it would be a pride to go to prison for defending a people that was silenced, a people that was silent. For me it would be a pride to see a high leadership formed in the social outbreak that took place here in Placetas," he stated.

The vice president of the Free Yorubas of Cuba organization stressed that he has the same disposition as his maternal brother,Cuban opponent Jorge Luis García Pérez 'Antúnez', who was imprisoned for 17 years for his fight against communism.

"I am not afraid of going to prison, let the henchmen know that I am not afraid of going to prison. Let Raúl Castro and Díaz-Canel know that I am not afraid of them at 20 years old," he stressed.

The international foundation The Global Liberty Alliance reported that four members of Free Yorubas were arrested after this week's demonstrations in the Villa Clara municipality, and they were summoned to appear at the police station.

"The persecution orchestrated by the religious police of Cuba - Office of Religious Affairs - continues in Placetas, Cuba, against Yorubas," he reported on his Twitter account.

The NGO warned that members of the Cuban religious institution could be under arrest.

"The Free Yorubas report that three police vans have arrived to arrest up to 15 people sheltered in a house," the complaint stated.
