Trial against Caimanera protesters will be this Tuesday

The Prosecutor's Office requests between four and nine years of deprivation of liberty for the six protesters. The trial will be at 9:00 am in the Niceto Pérez municipality court.

Next Tuesday, April 2, the trial will be held against six young Cubans detained for their participation in theprotests against the government that occurred on May 6 of last year in Caimanera.

According to the independent organization Cubalex, the oral hearing will be held at 9:00 am in the Municipal Court of the Niceto Pérez municipality of Guantanamo.

"The Guantánamo Prosecutor's Office has requested between 4 and 9 years of deprivation of liberty for the protesters," the information on Twitter states.

Of the six defendants, it is Daniel Álvarez González who is asked for nine years for the crimes of public disorder and instigation to commit a crime.

His brother Rodolfo Álvarez González, along with his brothers Luis Miguel Alarcón Martínez and Felipe Correa Martínez, as well as Freddy Sarquiz González, face six years in prison for the crimes of public disorder and attack.

The sixth is Yandris Pelier Matos, from whom the Prosecutor's Office is asking for four years in prison for public disorder.

"Victoria Martínez, mother of two protesters, informed Martí Noticias that the conditions inside the Guantánamo Complex are alarming: infectious outbreaks, malnutrition, poor nutrition, contaminated water and lack of medicines," Cubalex added.
