Omara Durand advanced to the hectometer semifinals at the Tokyo Paralympics

The woman from Santiago seems to have no rivals in the pure speed of her category.

The stellar Cuban runnerOmara Durand took a new step towards another golden triplet inParalympic Games by easily imposing itself on hisheat of 100 meters and guarantee a presence in tonight's semifinals.

Accompanied by guide Yuniol Kindelán, the Santiago native of the T12 category (sighted people with a visual field of less than 5 degrees) won the section in 11.70 seconds, well ahead of the Venezuelan Greilyz Villarroel (12.57) and the Spanish Alba García (12.85).

Thus, the 29-year-old girl will be at 10:00 pm this Wednesday looking for hergo to the final of the specialty against the Spanish Nagore Folgado, the Brazilian Viviane Ferreira and the Chinese Yanfen Liang, none of whom have ever gone under 12 seconds.

Owner of the universal top of the test with a fabulous time of 11.40 seconds, Durand has dominated the 100, 200 and 400 meters in the summer event of Rio 2016 and the World Cups in Doha 2015, London 2017 and Dubai 2019.

In addition, he also won the hectometer and the round of the oval at the 2012 London Paralympics.
