The Cuban singerWilly Chirino congratulated his friend and colleagueLeoni Torres for the nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards for his album "Alma cubana".

"Tremendous album!" said the performer on his Instagram account.

Leoni Torres is aspiring to the statuette for Best Traditional Tropical Album for his new album, and Chirino did not want to miss the opportunity to publicly show his joy at this recognition of the quality of his friend's work.

Let us remember that both artists worked together on thesong "For my old man", released last June in tribute to parents, which was not without controversy due to Willy's openly critical stance towards the Castro dictatorship, which led sympathizers of the regime to brand Torres as a traitor.

The Latin Grammy award ceremony will take place on November 18, the 22nd edition of these awards.

Leoni Torres, for her part, was happy to learn of the nomination for the awards given by the Latin Recording Academy.

"Today I come with very special news that just woke me up right now. They don't know how happy I am"he said in a video shared on his social networks.

"Now to dream about the award, I hope I can have it one day. It is a recognition that I would like to have, so we already have the nomination for the Latin Grammys," he added.

Also competing in the Best Traditional Tropical Album category are the album "Cha Cha Chá: Homenaje a lo traditional", by Alain Pérez, Issac Delgado and the Orquesta Aragón, and "Solos", by Gonzalo Rubalbaca and Jon Secada.

Other Cuban artists also have nominations in important categories.

Among them, Yotuel Romero, Gente de Zona, Descemer Bueno, Maykel Osorbo and El Funky stand out, nominated for Song of the Year and Best Urban Song, for "Patria y Vida."

Gloria Estefan also aspires to the statuette for Best Contemporary Tropical Album with her "Brazil 305", Omara Portuondo in the Best Tropical Song category for "Bolero a la vida" alongside Gaby Moreno, and the Cuban singer and composer Alex Cuba appears in the category Best Singer-Songwriter Album for "Mendó".

The name of the Cuban singer Diana Fuentes is also on the list as she is one of the composers of "If you had wanted" by Pablo Alborán, which is nominated for Song of the Year.
