Cuban television shows images for the first time of the trials against the protesters from July 11

Cuban television showcased, for the first time this Tuesday, footage of the trials of the 11J protesters, highlighting a strong military presence and two video cameras recording the proceedings.

The images were aired in the prime time broadcast of the Cuban Television News on the same day that the Attorney General's Office of the Republic made a statement on the matter.

Although there are only about five photographs, some of them show video cameras. The official report did not specify which province of Cuba the snapshots belong to or whether they were taken on the same day.

Recently, the Prosecutor's Office in Cuba acknowledged that there were 790 individuals prosecuted for protesting on July 11, with 21% of them having criminal records, according to official sources from the Cuban government.

He also acknowledged that 27 minors under the age of 16 participated in the anti-government protests on July 11, of which at least 10 are still held in comprehensive education and behavior correction facilities.

"The measure of individualized attention was applied to 17 students within their own school of the National Education System where they are studying," the organization specified in a statement.

He also assured that actions are taken in accordance with the law and the Constitution "with adherence to due process, the protection of the interests of the State, and respect for the rights of all citizens"; however, the complaints from the families of the detainees reveal that this is not the case.

Relatives of some of the defendants in Jovellanos, Matanzas, claimed that during the trial of the protesters from July 11, the testimonies and evidence presented by the defense were dismissed, while the statements made by the police were not compelling.

"We are very uncomfortable with this and we want everyone to know and understand that they are unjustly imprisoned," stated Raquel Márquez Vázquez's niece in a video.
