HeCuban boxer Robeisy Ramírez He achieved an important victory on Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland, by beating the Irishman Eric Donovan in a special attraction of Taylor vs. Catterall.

"El Tren" Ramírez defeated his rival by technical knockout in the second round of the fight, although his technical superiority was evident from the first round, when in the second minute he caused the first protection count against Donovan.

The Cienfuegos man, whoBoxes professionally in the United States, commented after the victory that Donovan is a great boxer, but clarified that he had a great camp for this fight and showed his best side.

"I'm already getting used to this professional boxing and I saw the result," he told specialized journalist Jorge Ebro, forThe New Herald.

Ramírez, (9-1, 5 KOs), confessed that he was very happy to return to the United Kingdom, where at the age of 18 he won his first Olympic title at the 2012 London Games.

The featherweight fighter (126 pounds) thanked the fans who filled the venue.

"Thanks to the fans of Scotland. We arrived, we made a long trip but we really came to do the job and it is already done. Follow the race of "El Tren" because this 22nd is coming strong," he expressed on his Twitter account.

Ramírez was a double Olympic champion, first in London 2012 and then in Rio de Janeiro 2016. In his amateur career he also won gold at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara and at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, both in Mexico .

He left the Cuban national team in 2018, during a training camp in Aguascalientes, Mexico, ahead of the Central American Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.
