One person was injured in the voraciousfire that this Thursday devoured a part of the Tropicana Flea Market, the largest flea market in theMiami-Dade County.
The fire apparently started in afood truck from where it spread to a tent which houses merchant stalls, and from there he jumped to a warehouse on the first floor, according to local media.
Aerial images showed huge flames and dark smoke coming from a warehouse in the market, located near Northwest 3755 and 30th Avenue in Miami.
The Fire Department estimates that the fire burned 40% of the businesses of the 200 stores that the market has.
The channelWPLG pointed out thatMore than 40 firefighting units approached the scene to put out the flames as soon as possible.
Operations at the Airport, which is close to the site of the accident, were not affected despite the fact that the column of smoke was visible from several kilometers away.
Witnesses said the fire started in front of the man who was injured at a family food truck. The injured person was hospitalized with "traumatic injuries." At the time of writing, other details about his clinical condition are unknown.
On this Friday morning, the merchants returned to the flea market to see what they could save from their charred businesses.
The damaged market opens its doors from Friday to Sunday from 7 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon, although workers usually go from Thursday to start setting up the stalls.
The authorities are investigating the causes of the accident.
