They announce the upcoming opening of a luxury hotel in Havana

The boutique hotel will have 61 adults-only rooms

The Canadian hotel chain Blue Diamond Resorts announced the opening of the hotel on September 1 Mystique Regis Habana by Royalton, which will be part of the Royalton Luxury Resorts boutique hotels.

The boutique hotel, located on Paseo del Prado and owned by the Gaviota Tourism Group -from the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR)- will have 61 rooms only for adults and five different categories of rooms.

"Each modern luxury room will feature a beautiful 1900s detail, such as hat hangers and walking sticks. Sleek bathtubs, rainfall showers and art-deco mirrors are also some of the features guests will find in their rooms," says a statement released by the chain.

Blue Diamond Resorts notes that guests of the facility will have "Wi-Fi in all areas, RFID wristbands that function as room keys, capsule coffee machines, in-room USB docking stations and ports."

The common areas of the property include a lobby bar, a restaurant with views of the Paseo del Prado and a rooftop with a cafe-restaurant overlooking the boardwalk.

At the beginning of August, the Canadian hotel chain Blue Diamond Resorts announced that will manage the iconic Hotel Inglés from November.

In recent days, the Canadian company assumed the management and marketing of the Royalton Habana Paseo del Prado hotel, the first of the chain with the Royalton brand in the city.

The five-star facility, with 250 rooms and located on the corner of San Lázaro and Malecón Avenue, was inaugurated in 2019 and was until now managed by the French chain Accor.

Since launching into the hospitality sector in 2011, Blue Diamond Resorts has become the fastest growing hotel management company in the Caribbean.

In Cuba they manage hotels in Havana, Varadero, Trinidad, Cayo Coco and Cayo Santa María. Among the hotel facilities they manage are the Royalton Hicacos, Royalton Cayo Santa María, Grand Memories Santa María, Grand Memories Varadero, Mystique Casa Perla, Mystique Trinidad La Popa, Memories Flamenco and Memories Paraíso.

Almost 80 thousand hotel rooms in Cuba

There are currently several hotels under construction in Cuba despite the fact that the government assures that it lacks resources to invest in areas of social impact such as public health, food production, and housing, the latter sector in which Only 33% of the planned annual plan is fulfilled.

One of the most relevant projects underway is the construction in El Vedado, in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality, of what will be the tallest hotel in Cuba, a building that It has not been without controversy for several reasons.

In July the Minister of Tourism of Cuba, Juan Carlos García Granda, reported that The country has almost 80 thousand hotel rooms and confirmed that they intend to continue building.

The owner specified that Cuba's hotel plant currently amounts to 78,862 rooms throughout the country and that 74% of them are 4 and 5 star categories.

García also reiterated that the ministry he directs maintains the goal of receiving 2.5 million visitors in 2022.

In recent days, the Cuban government announced that, despite the general crisis in the country, it will invest millionaire sums in more than 150 projects for tourism purposes that include the construction of water parks, dolphinariums and golf courses for foreigners.
