Cuban-American writer Sergio Andricaín wins children's poetry prize

The Cuban-American writer Sergio Andricain won the 2022 Campoy-Ada Award in the Latin-centric Children's Poetry category.

He Campoy-Ada Award It has various categories. It is sponsored by the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE) and the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA).

Andricaín won the award with the work "Tilingo, tilingo: Rimas, tongue twisters, and traditional riddles", for which he made the selection and prologue. The book is illustrated by Claudia Navarro and was published in 2022, with the publisher Vista Higher Learning.

The writer of Cuban origin leads in Miami, along with Antonio Orlando Rodriguez, the Cuatrogatos Foundation. This non-profit organization works in favor of culture and education. They have a meritorious work as promoters of reading, writing and studying children's and young people's books in Spanish.

He Campoy-Ada Award It is inspired by two important figures of bilingual literature in the United States, they are F. Isabel Campoy and Alma Flor Ada. It is aimed at celebrating the publication of books in Spanish in the United States and Puerto Rico, for a children's and youth audience.

This award has been awarded biennially since 2017. It has 24 categories, fiction and non-fiction, Latin-centric themes and universal themes. Its main objective is to promote a multicultural understanding of American society.
