A man of Cuban origin barricaded himself this Wednesday afternoon in his house, located at 85 West and 60 Street in the city of Hialeah, in the county of Miami-Dade, after previously being involved in a police chase.

The 53-year-old man began to be pursued in the city of Homestead, then took the Turnpike and drove at high speed along I-75 until he reached his home.

During the journey, several police patrol cars pursued the driver, who was driving a black Kia SUV, Telluride model.

The Cuban, who was apparently armed, He allegedly threatened to shoot the authorities if they approached him, so the police kept their distance from the car, which was driving at high speed.

Once he arrived at his residence in Hialeah, the man got out of the truck in total calm and went inside the house, where he was seen leaning out of a window while the authorities began to surround him with a rapid response SWAT team. .

The episode ended when the Cuban surrendered to the authorities after a negotiation in which his brother, Henry González, who collaborated, He alleges that his family member is going through a very difficult time.

“He is not a bad person. "He is a very good person, he has a heart the size of the entire eastern neighborhood," he said in statements to America Camel, Henry González.

“My brother has suffered many mishaps, family accidents. One of his sons died, I also lost a son a few years ago, my mother got sick, my brother died a year and a half ago. "He's got all this wrong and it seems that his wife also tried something she shouldn't have and that's why he went crazy.", he added in reference to the personal problems that would have led his brother to such behavior.

“A man suffering from a crisis, threatening that he wanted to take his own life. Thank God we received information that he was on his way to his home in Hialeah. We waited for him to arrive and once there our units convinced him to leave that house safely,” said Eddie Rodríguez, spokesman for the Hialeah Police Department.

The Cuban, identified by his family as “Víctor”, is receiving medical attention and does not face police charges for what happened.
